The solar system consists of the Sun, eight planets, and numerous moons, asteroids, comets, and other objects orbiting the Sun. The Sun is the central and most massive object in the solar system, containing more than 99% of its total mass. Its gravitational force holds the entire system together, and its energy provides the heat and light necessary for life on Earth.

Asteroids are rocky objects that orbit the Sun, mainly located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Comets are icy bodies that originate from the outer regions of the solar system and have highly elliptical orbits that bring them close to the Sun.

The study of the solar system and its objects is an ongoing area of research for astronomers and planetary scientists. Missions to explore the planets and other bodies, such as the Mars rovers and the Voyager probes, have provided valuable data and insights into the nature and history of our solar system. Ongoing and future missions, including the James Webb Space Telescope and the Europa Clipper, will continue to expand our understanding of the solar system and its place in the universe.
